#TogetherWeCan

Together we Can

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation has launched #TogetherWeCan, a 4 week social media campaign that will run until the end of April 2019.

The goal is to promote positive messages about what adults can do to prevent child sexual abuse and keep kids safe.

Research indicates that between 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will experience sexual abuse before the age of 18.It is the responsibility of adults to keep children safe, this includes helping children to develop personal safety skills.

We will be sharing prevention messages, myth busting and encouraging conversations about what every day people can do to help children stay safe.

The community is invited to share strategies they use at home, in schools and the community to help children and young people to feel and be safe.  Get involved by visiting https://www.danielmorcombe.com.au/together-we-can.html

The Foundation’s CEO, Holly Brennan says, “It seems unthinkable in today’s day and age that we need to raise awareness about child sexual abuse but unfortunately there are many adults who still wouldn’t recognise the signs or know how to talk to children about simple things like body ownership.”Child sexual abuse is preventable and #TogetherWeCan create a future in which it doesn’t exist.

#TogetherWeCan has been funded by the Queensland Government, Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women as part of the 2019 Sexual Violence Prevention Grants. Media Opportunities are available on Wednesday 10th April at Daniel House, 7 Koorawatha Lane, Palmwoods.
